Amanda Jones, author of “That Librarian”
Published

Sunday, March 16th
1:00—2:00 PM
Online-Zoom.
Amanda Jones is a middle-school librarian from the town she grew up in in Louisiana, who in 2022 attended a meeting at her local public library to speak out against censorship. She then found herself the target of a hate campaign on social media, with accusations of grooming children and death threats. This pushed her into high gear as an advocate for the Freedom to Read, and in her 2024 book That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America, she tells her story. Amanda will be joining us via Zoom to discuss her book, the importance of the library profession, and book joy, all in a national climate of assaults on the freedom to read.
Please register here. This event is part of the Yarmouth Town Libraries Board’s Freedom to Read series and is funded by the South Yarmouth Library Association in partnership with libraries across Massachusetts, who will be joining us on Zoom. Thanks to the Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library.
