Gift Policy

Books or other materials may be donated to the library with the understanding that those not added to the library collection will be given to the Friends of the Library for their book sales. These may be accepted at the discretion of the Library Director. Gift materials are added to the collection based on the criteria described in the Library Materials Selection policy, which is used to select materials for purchase.

Gifts of furniture, artifacts, computers, art, or other pieces which would not be part of the Library collections, must be accepted by a vote of the Library Trustees. Such gifts must be made with the understanding that their use or location will be subject to the overall space needs of the Library. When appropriate, the Library Trustees may vote to place such gifts with the Bedford Historical Society or in another town department.
