BFPL is KultureCity Certified

The Bedford Free Public Library is proud to be KultureCity certified as a Sensory Inclusive location. KultureCity is the world’s leading nonprofit focused on sensory accessibility and inclusion for people with sensory needs and invisible disabilities such as autism, PTSD, ADHD, Parkinson’s, dementia, stroke and traumatic brain injury. They partner with venues like libraries to make experiences Sensory Accessible/Inclusive. 

Certification includes:

Sensory Accessible/Inclusive Staff Training:
Staff are trained to recognize sensory needs, reduce stigma and respond with compassion, practical tools and clear communication.

Sensory Tools and Environments:
The library now offers research-based Sensory Bags with items like noise reducing headphones, fidget tools, and visual cue cards. There is also clear signage regarding quiet and headphone zones, pre-visit resources and app-based information so individuals and families can plan ahead.
