INTERNET POLICY

Bedford Free Public Library

The Bedford Free Public Library provides resources in a wide variety of formats, including the Internet that meets the diverse educational, cultural, informational, and recreational needs of Bedford residents.

The Internet is a global electronic network and the Bedford Free Public Library does not select material on the Internet, has no control over the information accessed via the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for its content.

Use of the Internet is governed by the Library’s Behavior Policy (https://www.bedfordlibrary.net/about/library-policies/behavior-policies/). It is not acceptable to use the Internet for illegal purposes or to transmit threatening, obscene, or harassing materials. The Library expects all who use the Internet to comply with all applicable U.S. laws, including current copyright laws and to respect licensing agreements.

The Library does not retain records of individual patron computer use nor does it monitor the use of the Internet. The Bedford Free Public Library supports the ALA Library Bill of Rights and a supplemental document entitled Access to Electronic Information, Services, and Networks.

This policy governs the use of the Internet through the Library’s entire telecommunication network including the library’s wireless network, regardless of the point of access.

Rules and procedures for using library computers are specified in the Computer Use Policy.
