TAG (Teen Activity Group) is for everyone in middle school and high school and normally meets every Wednesday during the school. We have snacks, crafts, and games – stop by and hang out with your friends! We meet in the Meeting Room (first floor, past the Children’s Room) starting at 1pm. The Friends of the Bedford Library are holding a three day Fall Book Sale. The Book Sale is held rain or shine at the library located at 7 Mudge Way in Bedford, MA. Thanks to the huge quantity of quality book donations, there will be thousands of books offered in three different rooms, all well organized. Books include fiction such as romance, thrillers, science fiction, poetry, plays and classics plus DVDs and music CDs; children’s books; books for young adults; non-fiction books including art, cookbooks, foreign languages, business, history, science, textbooks, puzzles, and much more.
Proceeds from book sales help underwrite library programs and services, including our annual lecture series, additions to the library collection, and museum passes.
This is the Friends’ biggest sale of the year with thousands of books available. Come on down to the library for some great bargains! The Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library is a non-profit organization.
We’ll dig into practical tips to make your children’s birthday parties and school lunches eco-friendly and low waste. We’ll also be discussing how kids, families, and communities can be more sustainable as some towns/cities/states move towards free lunches for all.
Sarah Robertson-Barnes, founder of the Sustainable in the Suburbs blog, is a freelance writer, educator, and consultant. She lives with her husband, two kids, and rescue dog outside of Toronto, Ontario. Sustainable in the Suburbs is a resource for living low waste with kids in a culture of convenience.

The Bedford Free Public Library is joining 49 libraries in the area to host a virtual conversation with best-selling author Lisa See from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12.
See’s latest historical novel, “Lady Tan’s Circle of Women,” is based on the true story of a woman physician from 15th-century China and is a reimagining of the life of a woman who was remarkable in the Ming dynasty and would be considered remarkable today. The book was published by Scribner on June 6.

Summer Reading starts on Tuesday, June 20th and ends on Friday, August 25th.
This year we have one challenge for all ages – making it easier for the whole family to participate (but there will be different prizes for each age group). For everyone going into Grades 6 through 12 in the Fall, we welcome you to register for Teen Summer Reading and earn points for each day you read and each activity you complete. Collect enough points and you will be automatically entered into a drawing for a final Grand Prize, generously donated by the Friends of the Library.
For teens, the Grand Prize raffle will be a Barnes & Noble gift card, awarded at the end of Summer Reading. Additionally, teens can stop by the Reference Desk each day to spin our prize wheel.
