Join us on Saturday, October 14th for an escape room experience to celebrate the release of the newest Percy Jackson book, The Chalice of the Gods.
Can you use your wits to capture the flag before the time runs out? Solve all the puzzles to complete this Percy Jackson-themed escape room. No knowledge of Percy Jackson or previous escape room experience required.

Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer’s works are poetic abstractions that spring from meditations on nature and from memories that are distilled into single dramatic moments. The energetic surfaces imply an ongoing tension between freedom and containment, edging the viewer closer to that place where chaos can erupt into clarity. The deliberate juxtapositions of forms and exaggerations of color choices, provide clues to content and interpretation.
Sirapi’s artwork has received multiple awards and was exhibited in galleries throughout Europe and the United States. She is represented by Cove Gallery in Wellfleet, MA and Gallery Twist in Lexington, MA; she is also is a member of Honey Jones Gallery and Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA and Gallery Z in Providence, RI. Sirarpi studied biomedical systems engineering at Boston University as well as painting and stage design at the Academy for Fine Arts “Die Etage” and Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, Germany. She lives and works in Lexington, Massachusetts.
Artist Statement: “My poetic abstractions spring both from meditations on nature and from memories that are distilled into single dramatic moments. The energetic surfaces imply an ongoing tension between freedom and containment, edging the viewer closer to that place where chaos can erupt into clarity. The color white suggests notions of purity and simplicity, and unifies the disparate objects. The deliberate juxtapositions of forms and exaggerations of color choices, provide clues to content and interpretation.”
The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular library hours.

This summer members of our community contributed to our Tiny Art Show. We had two sessions in the meeting room for patrons to paint, draw, or otherwise design four inch square canvases. Thanks to all who participated for their creativity, technique and thought that went into each piece!
Are you an emerging artist and interested in exhibiting artwork on the Community Art Wall? The exhibit space is located on the wall opposite the Children’s Room entrance. We encourage students and amateur artists to apply. Generally, each exhibit is up for approximately two months, though there is some flexibility in dates. All work submitted must be original and not previously shown at the Bedford Free Public Library. TAG (Teen Activity Group) is for everyone in middle school and high school and normally meets every Wednesday during the school. The Friends of the Bedford Library are holding a three day Fall Book Sale. The Book Sale is held rain or shine at the library located at 7 Mudge Way in Bedford, MA. Thanks to the huge quantity of quality book donations, there will be thousands of books offered in three different rooms, all well organized. Books include fiction such as romance, thrillers, science fiction, poetry, plays and classics plus DVDs and music CDs; children’s books; books for young adults; non-fiction books including art, cookbooks, foreign languages, business, history, science, textbooks, puzzles, and much more.
Proceeds from book sales help underwrite library programs and services, including our annual lecture series, additions to the library collection, and museum passes.
This is the Friends’ biggest sale of the year with thousands of books available. Come on down to the library for some great bargains! The Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library is a non-profit organization.
