 VIRTRUAL: Deepfakes & Media AI

Join Bard College film professor Joshua Glick for a wide-ranging conversation about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on contemporary media. Come with your hopes, questions, and concerns about this emerging media landscape.

Professor Joshua Glick is a film and media studies scholar focusing on the comparative histories of film, television, and radio; nonfiction media; race and representation; and the civic uses of emerging technology. About Lucy:

One Author, Two Pennames

Hello and welcome! If you’re visiting this website, it’s because you’re interested in Tamara Berry or Lucy Gilmore.

Good news! They’re both me.

I began my writing career in 2012 as a romance author. Since that time, I’ve expanded to include cozy mysteries (Tamara Berry) and uplifting women’s fiction (Lucy Gilmore). No matter what you’re here for, my books are funny, lighthearted, and always come with a guaranteed HEA.

I graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree, where I learned about Very Important Literature and also that I vastly prefer to read about love and murder. I live in Washington state with my family and far more pets than any of us need.  Photo Credit: Emily Jones Photography.

VIRTUAL: Q&A with Author Scott Ryan: "The Last Decade of Cinema"

Ah, the nineties. Movies were something in those days. We’re talking about a decade that began with GoodFellas and ended with Magnolia, with such films as Malcolm X, Before Sunrise, and Clueless arriving somewhere in between. Stories, characters, and writing were king. If you’re a fan, a movie buff, or just a child of the 90s, please join us in conversation with author Scott Ryan as we discuss what made them classics and why they could never be produced in today’s film culture.

VIRTUAL: Adam Smyth Discusses “The Book-Makers – A History of the Book in Eighteen Lives”

TUESDAY, JUNE 18th 10:00—11:00 AM

Online-Zoom

Books have transformed humankind by enabling authors to create, document, and entertain. Yet we know little about the individuals who brought these fascinating objects into existence and those who first experimented with the art of printing, design, and binding. Who were the renegade book-makers who changed the course of history? We are thrilled to be chatting with author Adam Smyth about this topic so close to our hearts. We hope you can join us!

Adam Smyth is Professor of English Literature and the History of the Book at Balliol College, Oxford University. He works on the connections between literature and material texts, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries, but also more widely. He is the author of four books (most recently, Material Texts in Early Modern England (2018)), and the editor or co-editor of four collections of essays (including Book Parts, with Dennis Duncan). Adam is a founder member of the 39 Steps Press printing collective. He writes regularly for the London Review of Books.
