Community Art Wall: Sandra Satenig Aghababian 1941-2021
Sandra loved art from a very early age and came from an artistic family. She graduated with a BA from the School of Fine & Applied Arts at Boston University and a MA in Education from Boston College. Although she didn’t purse art as a career, she kept a home studio and always had a painting in the works
She primarily worked in watercolor but she also worked in acrylic, oil, pencil, and gold leaf.
Her main influence was Armenian art, especially medieval manuscripts. Many of her paintings include a mythological creature that combines the body of a bird and the head of a human, known as a hushkaparik. Sandra considered these creatures a representation of the soul.

“Sing Hanson: Making Art of Life”
Photography and other works by Sing Hanson
September 9-November 10, 2021.
Artist reception: Saturday, September 25th 4 to 5 pm at the Library.
In the Artist’s own words…
Sing Hanson
I was once a painter, but am mostly a photographer at the moment. My photos sometimes blur the lines between the two media, and also between realism and abstraction. I also make limited edition artist’s handmade books, one of a kind multimedia collages and three-dimensional assemblages.
Concepts of recycling, repurposing, and adaptive reuse have framed my work over the last decade. I record evidences of the passage of time, whether they be the rusted sides of decommissioned trains on unused Sidetracks or Still Alives of desiccated flowers nested in prized bowls.
