2021 Summer Reading Progam Grand Prize

Congratulations to Grand Prize Winner Heather McClain! She was one of the 60 adults who participated in our Summer Reading Program. Heather received a lightweight, waterproof e-reader. The Friends of the Library provided funds for the Grand Prize as well as the the weekly gift certificates.

September Teen Take-and-Make Crafts

Teen Take-and-Make craft kits are available to everyone in grades 6 through 12. Stop by the Teen Room to pick one up, or call the Reference Desk to have one added to your contact-free pick-up. Kits are first come, first served.

Design your own bag to keep pencils (or whatever you need for school) safe!

Fold your own little creatures, including jumping frogs!

 

Alphabits: Activity Pages

Alphabits has ended for the season, and we’re glad to have seen so many amazing kids during our adventures from A to Z!  Each week, we offered an activity page for children, and now all of the printable pages are easily accessible online.  This is great way to fill in any blanks for letters you missed!

Join MARJORIE TURNER HOLLMAN, author of the Easy Walks in Massachusetts trail guide series, as well as Finding Easy Walks Wherever You Are. In this presentation, she will be talking about local places to go to experience the joys of taking an easy walk in nature, as well as offering lots of suggestions, experiences, and ideas that can help you have a more positive experience in the outdoors.

This presentation is especially appropriate for elders, those with disabilities, and families with young children who hope to use strollers while sharing the outdoors with their little ones.

This event is organized by the Billerica Public Library in collaboration with libraries in Andover, Bedford, Carlisle, and North Reading.

This program is brought to you with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Zoomobile with the Roger Williams Park Zoo

Get up close with three animal ambassadors from the Roger Williams Park Zoo and chat with a trained animal handler to learn more about these wild wonders!  This virtual meet-and-greet will give you prime access to the zoo’s wildlife ambassadors.

The fun begins Saturday, July 24th, at 10:30am.

Read Books

Read any books you would like, but make sure to log them in Beanstack! Each book read gives you 50 points!

Complete Activites

Read a book about an animal, try a new recipe, listen to an audiobook, create your own monster, and more! There are 11 activities to complete, and each one gives you 50 points!

Win Prizes

Every week, we’ll pick the name of someone who was active in the summer reading program that week and give them a Bedford Farms gift card! If you participate (log a book or complete an activity) every single week, you’ll be eligible to win every single week!

For every 100 points that you earn (by logging books and completing activities), you’ll get a raffle ticket for our grand prizes – a $50 gift card to Barnes & Noble or a $50 gift card to Newbury Comics! Make sure to select which raffle you would like to enter in Beanstack.
