Book Club-July 31st

If you would like to participate in our book club on Friday, July 31 at 10:30am, we will be talking about a poetry book, Falling Down the Page, edited by Georgia Heard.  Sign up by clicking on the event in our Library calendar.  If you would like to attend, but don’t have a copy of the book,  we have permission to email a couple of poems to you.   Please email egarnache@minlib.net if you are interested.

For kids and teens of all ages, the Enchanted Forest has officially opened.  Step inside where monsters, witches, genies, fairies, kings, queens, and more await you.  Only quick thinking, creativity, and adventurous reading will help you escape before August 31st.

Sign up at bedfordlibrary.beanstack.org.  You can use the website, the Beanstack Tracker app, or a printable paper log to track your progress through the forest.

Good luck, brave readers!

Summer Reading for Adults 2020!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this year’s Summer Reading Program.

Even though we couldn’t be together this summer we still enjoyed tracking all the online activities via Beanstack. Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library, 10 readers received a weekly gift card and Marie Liang won the Grand Prize – a dedicated e-reader!

Happy reading everyone!

Virtual Art Gallery

Bedford ARTS & CRAFTS SOCIETY
JURIED ART SHOW

Do you miss the Art Gallery at the Library? Here are images of the current exhibit featuring members of the Bedford Arts & Crafts Society.  Enjoy!

Three to Try!

  1.  Did you draw/paint/color a picture of Murphy, our turtle?  We would love to display it in our windows.

Murphy the turtle celebrates “World Turtle Day” all month long!

2.  Make a picture using leaves and/or other natural materials.  Be sure to ask an adult if material is okay to use.

Have you ever noticed that many leaves are shaped like hearts?

On a walk, see if you can spot some heart-shaped leaves.

3.  Make a flag and have a parade around your house!  Our Bedford drummers are inspiring.  Maybe you can make your own drum, too!

Bonus Borrows from hoopla!

The good folks at hoopla have extended bonus borrows until May 31, 2020. Library patrons have access to more than 1,000 top titles and hoopla favorites. Each patron will be debited ZERO borrows from their standard monthly 10 borrows when selecting titles from the Bonus Borrow collection.

The Bonus Borrows include collections of at-home workouts, books kids love, many adult titles, and self-help audiobooks and eBooks.

You can set up a hoopla account here.

Murphy the turtle celebrates “World Turtle Day” all month long!

Help Murphy to celebrate “World Turtle Day,” May 23 by drawing a picture of our beloved Bedford turtle.  You could even imagine what he’s doing on vacation and draw that!

You can send a photo to bedyouthservices@minlib.net OR put a paper copy in our book drop.  Be sure to wear gloves when you drop it in!

We will display your works of art on the windows in the Children’s Room – the ones facing Bedford High School.

We look forward to seeing pictures of Murphy while we wait to see the real Murphy back in the library.
