Over 19 million visitors a year come to Barcelona for its vibrant culture, architectural marvels, beautiful beaches, amazing food, and much more. See the sights from a recent visit, and also learn how history and geography make the Catalan region unlike any other part of Spain. Led by Gene Flynn, an Illinois native, who has taught at the College of Lake County and Harper College, and serves on the Board of the Institute for Continued Learning at Roosevelt University. He frequently gives travel presentations to libraries and senior centers around the country.

VIRTRUAL: Deepfakes & Media AI

Join Bard College film professor Joshua Glick for a wide-ranging conversation about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on contemporary media. We’ll talk about how these technologies are shaping the film and TV industry as well as the proliferation of “deepfakes” – AI-enabled videos that depict people doing or saying things they never did or said. Come with your hopes, questions, and concerns about this emerging media landscape.

Professor Joshua Glick is a film and media studies scholar focusing on the comparative histories of film, television, and radio; nonfiction media; race and representation; and the civic uses of emerging technology. In collaboration with the Center for Advanced Virtuality at MIT, he designed the interactive online curriculum, Media Literacy in the Age of Deepfakes. Professor Glick also co-curated Deepfake: Unstable Evidence on Screen, an exhibition at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York.

VIRTUAL: The Landscape As Canvas -- Earth Art

In the 1960s and 70s, artists like Robert Smithson, Nancy Holt, and Ana Mendietta began the revolutionary practice of making art using materials from the natural world. Learn more about the inspiration for the movement and get insight into the works of several leading artists, including Andy Goldsworthy. Led by art historian Jane Oneail, founder of Culturally Curious, a company that curates and delivers art appreciation programs for audiences worldwide. With a Master’s in Art History from Boston University and a Master’s in Education from Harvard University, Oneail has worked at some of New Hampshire’s most esteemed cultural institutions, including as Executive Director of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and Senior Educator at the Currier Museum of Art. She has also taught at the college level, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University.

Good news! They’re both me.

I began my writing career in 2012 as a romance author. Since that time, I’ve expanded to include cozy mysteries (Tamara Berry) and uplifting women’s fiction (Lucy Gilmore). No matter what you’re here for, my books are funny, lighthearted, and always come with a guaranteed HEA. 

I graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree, where I learned about Very Important Literature and also that I vastly prefer to read about love and murder. VIRTUAL: Armchair Travel To Northeastern France -Cathedrals, Romantic Villages & Wine

Explore the magnificent cathedral cities of Reims, Metz, and Strasbourg before heading into the heart of Alsace, with its blend of French and German cultures. Take a van tour along La Route des Vins, through medieval fairytale villages and to the castle of Haut Koenigsbourg in the Vosges Mountains. The trip continues to Mulhouse and its national automobile and railroad museums, the largest in the world. Finally, enjoy quick train trip to Freiburg in Germany’s Black Forest.

Led by Alison Simcox and Douglas Heath. Simcox is an environmental scientist, local historian, and author. She works at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specializing in air quality. Heath is a hydrogeologist and local historian who formerly worked at EPA specializing in drinking water in New England. They have co-authored five books on the history of Boston’s North Shore and two trail guides.
