A Lab in the Library

Looking for more science in your life? The playspace is here to help! The new theme includes specimens, magnifying glasses, mystery tubes, a light table, 3-D viewers, lab coats, and more to get the youngest scientists thinking and exploring.

Take a moment to write down your lab observations, while you’re here!

The playspace was made possible with federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Financial Workshop Series with Peter Hoffman

Monday, October 28th, 7 – 8:30 pm

Session 3: Retirement Income Planning

You saved for many years and now, in retirement, you will have the very different challenge of how to make your savings last for the rest of your life, and perhaps leave a legacy. The investment strategies and mindset for those in retirement are very different from those preparing for retirement: the focus shifts to safety and drawdown, instead of savings and growth.

Topics include:

  • How you can create a guaranteed income stream to cover basic needs
  • How to use a “bucket strategy” to insulate yourself from the stock market’s volatility
  • Drawdown strategies you can use to minimize taxes, maximize how much you can spend, and increase the odds that your savings will last as long as you will.

Program is free and open to the public.

All programs presented by Peter Hoffman, MBA, CFP, RLP, a Certified Financial Planner professional with Orion Wealth Advisors in Lexington. Advisory services offered by Trust Advisory Group, Ltd., a Registered Investment Advisor.

Three Printmakers * Three Friends

A Journey in Art and Friendship

September 12-November 15, 2019.

Artists reception: Sunday, October 20th, 5-6 pm at the Library.

Printmakers, Anita Feld, Maria Green and Doris Smith have been printing together for several years and have studied printmaking at the DeCordova Museum, Middlesex Community College and at the Maud Morgan Center for the Arts as well as taking other printmaking workshops in the area.

“Each of us has our own distinctive styles in our printmaking using woodblocks to create relief prints as well as creating Intaglio prints.  Our work includes themes of nature and as well as places we have visited, but also includes our experimentations with the different techniques of this medium.”

“The three of us were friends and artists before we shared our passion for printmaking.   We collaborate and share new techniques as well as critiquing our work together. Our friendship has grown as we have continued down this path together.”

This exhibit would not be possible without assistance from the Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library.
The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular library hours.
